In Georgia, in particular in Kakheti, French varieties of grapes are grown: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Cabernet Franc. 8000 years ago, our ancestors began to make wine in qvevvri (in special large clay jugs). later wine from Georgia spread all over the world. The company Qvevvri Amoris, which means “love” in translation, produces wines in qvevvri according to 8000 years old technology. Wine from the vineyards, lovingly cared for by Georgian peasants, has become a source of inspiration for poets, artists and masters of art. The Qvevvri Amoris company wines are made in Tsinandali, a historic village in the Kakheti region according to the oldest Georgian technology. Wine aged in qvevvri has a special taste and high energy value. In addition, tannins found in 100% natural wine have beneficial properties for the human organism. The Qvevvri Amoris company owns its own vineyards in the village Tsinandali, it’s a place where wines are even produced in qvevvri. The vineyards are preserved according to the oldest practice, preserved by the peasants of this historic village. The unique technology of winemaking – the recipe for homemade wine belongs to Niko-Nikoloz Bezhuashvili and David Bezhuashvili, which they inherited from their ancestors and will pass on to future generations.
Qvevvri Amoris produces a wide range of qvevvri Dry Red wines: Saperavi, Mukuzani, Amoris – a blend of the above listed wines. And also Qvevvri Amoris produces semi-sweet red wine under the brand Amoris. For the first time, the Qvevvri Amoris company has prepared French varieties of wines in qvevvri: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec. After harvesting, high-quality grapes are crushed, the stems are removed and placed in qvevvri. The fermentation process lasts for 3 weeks. In the next step, the qvevvri is filled and sealed for a six-month maceration. In spring, the wine is poured into oak barrels and kept for maturation, after this it is bottled. It is the special care of the vineyards and the traditions of winemaking that give Qvevvri Amoris wines an incomparable taste and unique qualities. Before entering the market, each bottle produced by Qvevvri Amoris undergoes quality control and tasting by oenologists. The volume of qvevvri wine and the number of bottles are limited. Cabernet Sauvignon – is one of the most popular red wine variety of grapes. In this quality, only his Bordeaux “colleague” Merlot and Burgundy “antipode” Pinot Noir can compete with him. Cabernet Sauvignon is a result of a natural crossing of main Bordeaux varieties: Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Franc. Most wine experts agree that crossbreeding has occurred no earlier than in the last few centuries, which makes the success of Cabernet more impressive.
